Elite students receive best-paper award
At the AISPC ’08 conference, held on February 15th 2008 at Aalborg University, two elite students studying under CISS, Claus Thrane and Uffe Sørensen, received the Best Computer Science Paper award, also known as the Google award. The award was given for their paper ”Slicing for UPPAAL”.
The paper describes the students' work on optimising the modelling, validation and verification tool UPPAAL by limiting (slicing) the amount of information UPPAAL needs to search through during the verification process. What makes the two students' work special is the fact that they focus on optimising the input - e.g. the amount of information - that UPPAAL gets, unlike typical research in that field, which usually focuses on optimising the way the tool processes that imput, Uffe Sørensen explains.
