Java for embedded systems is facing its breakthrough. More than 10 billion mobile phones and other hand-held devices are already employing Java, and the potential for employing Java in other embedded systems in devices are endless.

CISS has just entered a new collaboration project about the use of Java in Embedded Systems. The project has the name Java Object - Development of embedded software by the use of Java and was initiated in November 2007. It will have a duration of 18 months.

The purpose of the collaboration is to exchange experience and knowledge about Java for embedded systems between researchers and private companies, so tha the participants can build up a platform for initiating the use of Java in their embedded platforms. As such, the project is aimed at product development within the participating companies.

The other parties in the collaboration are KIRK telecom A/S, Mechatronic Brick ApS, Wirtek A/S, Prevas A/S, Tekkva Consult, Vitus Bering Danmark – University College and the Danish Technological Institute.
