Kim Guldstrand Larsen, Professor of Computer Science at Aalborg University and director of CISS, has been presented with the prestigious CAV Award 2013 for his research within modelling, simulation and verification of real-time IT systems and the development of the verification tool UPPAAL.

28-year-old Andreas Engelbredt Dalsgaard from the Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University receives one of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education's special travel stipends for young elite researchers. He intends to spend the DKK 300,000 on research within modern safety-critical systems.

Today, software is embedded or integrated in almost everything, in smaller and smaller systems and with minimal use of power. More it makes our society smarter, but also makes our systems more complex - and thus heighten the risk of errors. It is an associated basic challenge, the basis of everything else we want to solve. So says Kim Guldstrand Larsen, who in addition to embedded software also conducts research to secure the increasingly complex IT systems through 'model-based development'.
